Company profile and structure

The Princess Juliana International Airport (PJIA) was incorporated on September 13, 1996, on St. Maarten, Netherlands Antilles. Effective January 3, 1997 the Government of St. Maarten took the decision to charge PJIAE with the operation of the Princess Juliana International Airport. This was done by granting the company a concession for a period of 20 years.

PJIAE is owned by the Princess Juliana International Airport Holding Company N.V. which in turn is owned by the Islands territory of St. Maarten.

The company's purpose as described in the articles of incorporation and stipulated in the concession agreement, is to operate the aviation business on St. Maarten. Meaning:

1. The maintenance of the airport facilities
2. The development of the airport facilities
3. The operations of the airport facilities
4. The conduct of all financial and commercial activities related to the airport business on St. Maarten.

The Board is a supervisory body and is comprised of seven non-executive directors including the chairperson, providing a wide rage of skills and experience. The roles of the Supervisory Board and Management are separate and clearly defined. The Supervisory Board meets regularly with Management to review financial performance and strategy.

The present Supervisory Board was appointed on February 21, 2003.

The President, Drs. Eugene B. Holiday was appointed in February, 1998.
