 US
Airways named PJIA its Airport of the Month in November 2008. The
airline devoted a full page of its “STATION MANAGER UPDATE” to St.
Maarten and its airport.
"When I was
notified that that decision was made I was proud. I wanted them to
talk to the agents; place them in the spotlight because it’s about
them. They deserve it. And when they learned that their hard work
had been recognized they were all proud," said Anne Beck, Station
Supervisor in St. Maarten.
The sole true USAir employee in St. Maarten, she commended the
workers at Halley Aviation, Menzies Aviation Services and the
Security Officers of Checkmate for the quality service they offer as
a combined team.
The “Station Manager Update” gave some good background information
about St. Maarten, including the island’s geographical location, its
unique double nationality, and its tourism product.
The publication also informed its readers that US Airways flies into
Princess Juliana International Airport operates 17 flights per week.
“During peak season, SXM flights are worked by a dedicated team of
15 agents. Station Supervisor Anne Beck welcomes all visitors to see
the new airport and St. Martin’s beaches and enjoy warm nights with
soft breezes. Be sure to stop in and say “Hi” to her and her
dedicated staff. See you in SXM!” the publication urged.
Ms. Beck resorts under the management of Michael “ Skippy”
Ploszkiewicz who is stationed in Saint Thomas. She started with US
Airways in 1991 in France and moved to SXM in 2003. “She has been
successfully running the operation ever since,” the publication
said.
PJIAE President drs. Eugene Holiday said he was proud the airport
was selected. “This is a validation of our hard work that goes daily
into transforming the Princess Juliana International Airport further
into a regional leader in aviation,” he remarked. “This
acknowledgment, coming from one of our airline partners, means a
lot.”
