The Facility Maintenace workers are making good headway with the
construction of the new southside fence. The old fence was torn down
during the passing of Hurricane Omar on October 16 last year, so PJIAE
commissioned its own workers to erect a new 2,500 feet wall, on which
the fence will be placed.
It may seem like an easy undertaking, but after spending less than an
hour with the guys out at the fence, one will agree that it is not a
piece of cake. Do not be fooled by the alluring beach. The sun bakes
hot!
“We’re moving along,” said Facility Maintenance Manager Justinien Joe.
In early February BBW trucks were bringing in loads of concrete, to pour
into the steel reinforced columns in the seawall. The wall was raised
two meters above the beach. The work is expected to be finished by late
February / early March.
PJIAE Technical Director Mirto Breell was proud of his workers. “We
decided to keep this job in-house, instead of sourcing it out. We are
saving a good bit of money this way,” he said.
The question is though: would the guys be eager to do it again?
